St. John the Evangelist and St. Mary Catholic parishes of Defiance seek to provide ministry to Defiance College students, faculty and staff. Catholics on Campus is the name of the official student organization at Defiance College.

For the parishes, the purpose of the collaboration is to help Defiance College students, faculty and staff know and love Jesus Christ in and through His Church, and to live the Catholic faith with joy and zeal, for the glory of God and the salvation of souls. The parishes seek to do this by proclaiming the Catholic faith in fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church and in communion with the Most Reverend Daniel E. Thomas, Bishop of the Diocese of Toledo.
